Balcony Waterproofing
We repair leaking balconies and renew waterproofing beneath outdoor tiles. From the base and outlets to the door threshold and finished surface, we plan the connected details so water can drain and your balcony can return to use.

A tiled balcony has a surface finish and a waterproofing layer beneath it. Cracked grout, pooling water or staining underneath can signal a problem, but the visible symptom alone does not establish the full repair. We assess the accessible balcony and discuss what may need to be opened before confirming the work.
- The existing base, surface condition and proposed preparation area.
- Door thresholds, wall junctions, exposed edges and penetrations.
- Outlets and the relationship between drainage and finished levels.
- Membrane application and tile removal or reinstatement where agreed.
Your written quote distinguishes base and outlet-junction preparation, membrane work and the tiled finish, including what will be removed and reinstated. If an outlet backs up or a pipe problem is suspected, the drainage cause needs separate assessment before the waterproofing and tile scope is agreed.

Urgent balcony water-entry enquiries
Keep clear of wet or damaged surfaces and call about water crossing a threshold or reaching the room below. Suitable temporary protection is assessed separately from membrane renewal; access, weather and curing affect permanent repairs.
Ponding needs the floor falls, finished levels and outlet connection assessed together; regrouting alone cannot correct the drainage arrangement. Door thresholds and edge junctions can limit the available build-up and affect whether tiles need removal.
Tiles, door tracks and balcony edges can conceal important connections. We explain any access or removal needed before specifying a repair. Regrouting or coating over existing tiles does not establish that the membrane underneath is sound or resolve an inaccessible junction.
Balcony strip-out, membrane renewal and retiling
Balcony level, safe access, building occupancy and the route for removing materials influence how the work is organised. Let us know if the balcony belongs to an apartment or shared building and whether access arrangements need coordination. We confirm practical access before scheduling the agreed work.
Where renewal is needed, the sequence may include tile removal, base repairs, preparation of outlets and junctions, membrane installation and curing before reinstatement. The chosen system and exposed condition guide the detail. For the finish, see our balcony tiling service; for isolated damaged tiles, read tile repair and replacement.
Cost and timing factors for a balcony repair
Area, removal depth, base condition and the number of junctions and outlets affect the quote. Threshold alterations, difficult access and the availability of replacement tiles may add work beyond the initial visible damage. We identify the work included and discuss any further condition revealed during removal before extending the scope.
We plan preparation, application and curing around the weather and the selected materials. After assessment, we explain the expected balcony closure and the sequence for restoring the finish.
Using and caring for the balcony after work
Keep people, furniture and other loads off the affected area until the agreed return-to-use point. Handover guidance covers the installed finish and any restrictions during curing. Avoid fixing items through the treated surface without first checking how that would affect the waterproofing detail.
Keep accessible drainage points clear and report renewed pooling or staining. A change in water flow after the work deserves attention. Exterior membrane selection beneath balcony tiles
For a tiled balcony, we check exterior and under-tile suitability together. Water-based does not mean indoor-only, while approval for outdoor use does not automatically permit permanent exposure. The selected membrane, primer, threshold and outlet details must work with the tile adhesive, falls and movement joints. We identify any protective covering and weather-dependent curing stages in the written scope.
