Kitchen waterproofing for floors and wet junctions
Waterproofing for moisture-exposed kitchen floors, walls and junctions.
Included in your agreed scope
- Preparation of moisture-exposed surfaces
- Detailing around junctions and fittings
- Waterproofing coordinated with the kitchen finish
Retained cabinets, appliances and wet junction preparation
A kitchen repair needs a clear boundary between the area that can be opened and fittings that remain. Tell us whether cabinets, the benchtop and flooring stay in place, and whether a dishwasher or other appliance is being replaced. Hidden areas beneath fixed cabinetry may not be accessible without additional removal; we agree that access before including the work. Dampness near an appliance can have a supply or drainage source, so a membrane is not selected simply because the floor is wet.
Floor protection and splashback installation are different scopes
A splashback protects a wall finish from everyday splashes; replacing it is a separate task from preparing a moisture-exposed floor and its junctions. We check the existing substrate, transitions at doorways and how the proposed membrane meets retained surfaces. Loose tiles or damaged material may need removal before the base can be assessed. The quote identifies the accessible boundary and any excluded cabinetry, appliance or separate plumbing work.
Kitchen wet-zone preparation and compatible layers
The base, sink-side junctions, penetrations and finish determine the primer, membrane and detailing. An epoxy moisture barrier has a different role from a flexible under-tile membrane; epoxy grout is not a substitute for that membrane.
Kitchen membrane preparation and return to use
- Review the affected area and confirm access, the moisture pattern and suitability.
- Agree an itemised written quote covering preparation, materials, boundaries, finish and exclusions.
- Prepare the accessible base and carry out the agreed work, with checks appropriate to the selected system.
- Explain curing, return to use and care at handover. Timing follows the materials and site conditions.
Kitchen floors, splashbacks and adjoining wet areas
Kitchen splashback tiling covers the wall finish; laundry waterproofing addresses appliance areas with floor wastes.
